Solutions to the Shutdown of Dynamic Checkweighers during Normal Use

2025-01-07

When the dynamic checkweigher suddenly shuts down during normal use, don't panic. Generally, you can quickly find the cause and solve the problem by following the steps below to get the checkweigher back to normal operation.

I. Check the Power Connection

Firstly, check whether the power cord is firmly plugged into the socket. Sometimes, the movement of equipment around the production line or the movement of personnel may accidentally touch the power cord, causing it to become loose. Make sure that the plug is tightly connected to the socket without any loose connection.

Observe the status of the power indicator light. If the indicator light goes out, try replacing it with a spare power socket of the same specification to rule out socket failure. In some workshops with complex environments, problems such as poor contact and internal short circuits may occur in power sockets after long-term use. Changing the socket may restore power to the checkweigher.

If there is a distribution box or power switch, check whether the corresponding switch has tripped. If it has tripped, don't rush to turn it on. Check whether there are signs of short circuits or overloads in the checkweigher and connected equipment. For example, check whether there are any damages to the wires, any burnt smell, or whether the motor operation has abnormal resistance or jamming. After confirming that there is no abnormality, turn on the switch to supply power again.

II. Check the Material Transmission Situation

The shutdown may be caused by the protection mechanism triggered by material blockage. Open the protective cover of the material transmission channel of the checkweigher and carefully check whether there is any material accumulation or blockage in the channel. In the food packaging production line, debris and granular materials are prone to scattering and accumulation. In the hardware processing line, corner waste and metal scraps, if not cleaned up in time, may hinder the normal passage of materials and trigger the shutdown.

Check the status of the transmission belt to see if there is any belt deviation, tearing or being stuck by foreign objects. Long-term operation and uneven tension on both sides of the belt can cause deviation. Once there is serious friction with the equipment frame or the belt is involved with foreign objects, the checkweigher will shut down. If any belt problems are found, clean up the foreign objects in time, adjust the belt tensioning device to make it return to its proper position, and replace the damaged belt if necessary.

III. Troubleshoot Sensor Failures

The sensor is a core component of the checkweigher. If it fails, it can also lead to shutdown. Check whether the connecting wires of the sensor are loose or broken and whether the plugs are properly inserted. These wires may be pulled during equipment vibration or daily maintenance. Gently shake the wires. If the data on the display screen of the checkweigher jumps or shows garbled characters, it is very likely that there is a poor contact of the wires. Re-plug and fix the wires properly.

If the wires are normal, the sensor may be damaged. Generally, professional checkweighers have a self-check function. Enter the self-check program through the operation panel to check whether the feedback values of the sensors are normal. If the sensor fails, it is necessary to contact the professional after-sales personnel of the manufacturer and use professional calibration tools and standard weights for replacement and calibration. Do not disassemble and repair high-precision sensors by yourself to avoid causing greater damage.

IV. Software System Issues

Nowadays, many dynamic checkweighers are equipped with intelligent control systems. Software failures can also cause shutdowns. Restart the main unit of the checkweigher, similar to the operation of restarting a computer when it crashes, to initialize the system and see if it can return to normal. Some temporary software errors, such as memory overflows, can be solved by restarting.

If restarting is ineffective, check whether the software version is the latest. Contact the manufacturer to inquire whether there are any software update patches recently to fix known problems. Conduct software upgrade operations according to the manufacturer's guidance to ensure that the system runs stably and adapts to various working conditions on the production line.

In general, when the dynamic checkweigher shuts down, calmly check it according to these key aspects such as power supply, materials, sensors, and software. Most problems can be easily solved. In case of complex and difficult faults, contact the technical support of Changzhou Zhuoyue Automation System Co., Ltd. in time to ensure the quick resumption of production.
